Your numnah is a hugely important part of your riding kit. Many people spend many hundreds of pounds on a correctly fitted saddle, then put an ill-fitting numnah underneath and ruin their horse's back! Graham, our saddle fitter, strongly recommends using a numnah shaped the same way your horse's back is, thus preventing pressure on his wither. We see a huge number of problems caused as much by numnahs as we do caused by saddles.
We stock mainly Griffin Nuumed 'Hiwither' numnah's and pads. Although these are described as 'Highwither' they are really for every horse, not just those with a prominent wither, as a flat numnah creates creases underneath the saddle, and no matter how much you diligently pull the front up into the gullet, it will always pull down on their wither! Use a numnah shaped the same as your horse's back, and the problem is solved immediately!
So think of your horse's back when you're next buying a numnah, and choose one that's shaped to do the job!
