Does your horse evade the bit with any of the following; opening his mouth?  Sticking his tongue out?  Crossing his jaw?  Drawing his tongue back or over the bit?  Throwing his head up?  Snatching at the bit?  Pulling his head down?

All these symptoms are often signs that your horse is uncomfortable in his mouth, and we often simply put on a flash noseband, or various martingales to cover up the problem.  But what our horse is trying to tell us is he's very uncomfortable in his mouth.  Most commonly used bits are based on designs which are 100's of years old and which don't take the horse's mouth shape or comfort into consideration.  Even the action of a jointed bit is called a 'nutcracker action' - how on earth can this be comfortable for the horse?!

What the Myler brothers have done is designed a range of bits which are the same shape as the horse's mouth, which don't pinch or 'nutcracker' his tongue.  This way the horse is much more comfortable and thus will be more relaxed in his mouth and not so resistant.

As a Loriner (bit specialist) as well as a Master Saddler, Llwynon Saddlery's Graham Butt cannot rate these bits highly enough (in fact he won't ever put any other type of bit in his horse's mouth!) so if you'd like to discuss how having a Myler can help you and your horse, simply give us a ring at the shop to have a chat.  All the Myler bits come with a 2 week trial, so if it doesn't help your horse you can simply return it for a refund, less £10 hire charge.  Call staff for more information on 01874 638091.
