These quality saddle pads have built in pockets along the back which allow you to insert 'shims' where your horse lacks muscle. These inserts allow you to 'level up' your horse's back muscles without expensive and frequent trips to your saddler. Once your horse's muscles develop you can gradually remove the shims to keep the saddle balanced. Shims can be fitted to front or back, left or right, or all 4 areas. A maximum of 6 shims may be inserted into each pocket. Each shim is 5mm in depth, giving upto 30mm of adjustment per pocket.
These pads are recommended by Graham, our master saddler, not as a substitute for a well-fitting saddle, but as a great money saving alternative if you have a horse with asymmetrical back muscles, whilst his muscles are building up, saving frequent and expensive trips to the saddler for reflocking. Also beneficial if your horse changes shape frequently. It can also be used just like a regular numnah with no shims in once your horse is level.
The pads are shaped like your horse's back, so have a high wither. The material has a 100% cotton exterior, with interior made from Poly-flex® material, thus ensuring that the product retains its shape whilst in use and after washing.
